Shop Update and New Fabric Arrivals

Blog / 18 September 2015

After months of drawing and sketching and planning and waiting, while the fabric started to pile up high around us, we have finally started to get our new shop shelving units installed this week. Sooo exciting!

We’ve got another big fabric wall to hold wider bolts of fabric along with the new home for our rail of sample garments.

And in the bay window we’ve got a lovely wide area for new window displays with more shelves underneath.

It's great as it means that all the fabric is much easier to see.

With more on the way we have also had lots of new gorgeous fabrics for the Autumn/Winter season including some beautiful wools and wool blends. You can see the full selection in this link. Just click any highlighted text below to see the full pattern or fabric details.

This Black and White Wool Blend Fabric would be perfect for the Papercut Patterns Milano Cape.

The colours in these wool blends are beautiful!
From top left to bottom right we have a Royal Blue, Jade, Cerise and Pink colour way.

They would look lovely in a skirt like the Named Nascha Mini. Or how about the Sew Over It Ultimate Shift Dress? You’d have to line it of course but how cosy it would be?!

I think they would also look lovely in the Grainline Morris Blazer. The pattern does say that the fabric needs to have a bit of stretch but the weave is quite loose and open in these fabrics and I think they would be lovely. We still have spaces on our 2-day Make the Morris Blazer Workshop with Layla - two dates coming up in October and November for that!

These patterned ponte romas would also make really fun Morris Blazers. We have a Geometric patterned one and a Black and White Floral one.

How lovely is this light grey and mustard fleece back sweater fabric?

We have expanded our range of cosy colours - I absolutely love this fabric! It’s what I used to make my Seamwork Astoria Sweater and it is the comfiest and cosiest thing to wear ever! It's also perfect for the Grainline Linden Sweater too!

We also have a selection of the new Liberty Tana Lawns for Autumn and Winter. My top picks are Byrne B which reminded me a bit of the classic Strawberry Thief Design but it’s a bit bigger. I’m thinking of a Colette Laurel top for this one. I really liked the shape of the white embroidered laurel I made and the simple design would mean the pattern can really be shown off.

I also love the Bobo C print. Its so bright and colourful. The design on this one is a bit more random and smaller so it would work will with the raglan sleeves of the Sewaholic Belcarra Blouse.

If you need a classic denim skirt to pair with cosy jumpers and cardys over the next few months we have just received this really lovely Feather Bubble Indigo Denim Fabric. It would look great in a Tilly and the Buttons Airelle Skirt!

What sewing plans do you have for Autumn?
